The Admissions Committee, composed of faculty members, was first mentioned in the 1891-92 Indiana University catalogue. The committee was reorganized in 1942 as an all-university committee with members appointed by the president of the university. The work of the committee was to consider and recommend admissions policies, pre-college guidance procedures, and was to act as a Board of Appeals.
